Serious question: Does anyone actually have the time to complete a 10-minute hair mask in the shower? As someone who is always running late (sry to my friends), I barely have five minutes to do my hair most days—and trust me, my damaged, color-treated hair could def use the extra TLC. If only there was a quick treatment that could smooth, boost shine, and soften hair at home. Ope, there is!

The hair gods—AKA Oribe—must have heard my cry for help, because the brand developed this super fast-acting treatment that literally makes my hair strands look like glass and feel ultra soft in 60 seconds flat. Say hello to the Oribe Mirror Rinse Glass Hair Treatment, or as I like to call it haircare sorcery. What makes this rinse so magical? Well, keep scrolling to get all the deets and read my official review, complete with before and after pics.

What is the Oribe Mirror Rinse Glass Hair Treatment?

Erase all images of rich, thick hair masks—this treatment couldn't be further from that. In fact, it's a liquid "conditioning essence," as Oribe likes to call it (kinda similar to a facial essence, if you ask me). The multi-tasking rinse gives hair glass-like shine by smoothing hair cuticles with a mix of oils and silicones, which helps light bounce off hair more easily—hi, boosted color vibrancy—and fends off frizz.

What it is: A salon-grade treatment rinse that makes hair silky soft and gives it a glass-like shine.

Pros:

  • Works in 60 seconds
  • Results last through 15 washes
  • Can be used in place of conditioner

Cons

  • Pretty pricey for a treatment, ngl

Editor Rating:

4/5

Beyond the enhanced shine, the treatment rinse infuses hair with weightless moisture with a slew of hydrating botanicals—like watermelon oil, lychee, and edelweiss flower. These ingredients also work to soften and detangle hair. Oh, yeah, and it somehow does all of this in one minute. Is it science or magic? I think a lil bit of both.

How to use the Oribe Mirror Rinse Glass Hair Treatment:

I swear this was made for those who are chronically rushing, like moi. There's no extended treatment time, and you don't have to sit in your shower for 5 to 10 minutes for your hair to reap the benefits. Full stop: It might be one of the easiest hair products I've ever used. I'll explain.

After shampooing, skip over your conditioner and squeeze out all of the excess water from your hair. FYI, though, if you have thick, coarse, or extra dry hair, Oribe recommends using this in tandem with conditioner, since the formula might not be conditioning enough on its own. In that case, apply this treatment after conditioner. Fully saturate your hair mid-lengths to ends with the rinse, and let it sit on your hair for one minute before rinsing. Et voilá—It's that simple.

My review:

About my hair:

Overall, my hair is pretty healthy considering I've been coloring it regularly for the past nine years. The one thing I struggle with is dryness, especially in the winter. My hair becomes an unmanageable, tangled mess in the back as soon as I wrap a scarf around my neck or throw on a coat. Would I benefit from a deep-conditioning mask? Absolutely. But like I mentioned before, I'm hopelessly running late. (It's my New Year's resolution to get better at that, lol).

TBH, I was worried how I'd find the time to even test out this rinse... Until I read the instructions. I definitely have 60 seconds to spare in the shower. Heck, I let my conditioner sit longer than that most days. I had a feeling I was going to like this before I even tried it.

My experience:

After shampooing, I squeezed all the excess water out of my hair and applied this to my strands, avoiding my roots. I liked that the nozzle allows for a precise application—this little design feature makes it pretty seamless to fully saturate my hair in one go.

Once applied, the rinse produces a slight warming sensation. It was unexpected, but it also made me feel like the product was really working. Is it? IDRK, but I'm gonna just pretend and go with it. After 60 seconds, I rinsed it out and went about my day.

My results:

Before I even dried my hair, though, I could feel a difference. My hairbrush glided through my hair without any effort (which is a rarity for me, TBH, especially this time of year). However, once I blew out my hair, I was fully obsessed.

Some people would say my hair glistened like glass, but I'm gonna take things a step further: It shimmered like molten lava in the sun. (I'm sorry, I'm a redhead, I simply have to say these things!!) The shine rivaled some of the salon glossing treatments I've gotten actually. Multiple people stopped me on the street to tell me how amazing my hair looked this day, which is not the norm for a dreary winter day. Not only that, but those annoying scarf tangles I always struggle with practically disappeared too (!!). Safe to say, I just found a new winter go-to.

Final verdict:

The Oribe Mirror Rinse Glass Hair Treatment is hands down one of the most innovative hair treatments I've ever tried. The results are so impressive—glass-like shine, healthy softness, and manageability—but even better the than the results is how easy the rinse is to use. I mean, 60 seconds? Everyone has one minute to spare, which makes it a no-brainer to add to your routine when you need a little boost.

I do wish the rinse was a tad bit less expensive. $64 is a hefty amount for those on a budget. That said, because you only have to apply it once a week, it should last you a while. I've used this three times so far, and I've barely made a dent in the bottle. If you do want something a liiiiiitle cheaper, the Garnier Sleek & Shine Glass Hair Water is similar, although not quite as nourishing as Oribe, per my testing. If you can afford it, Oribe is 100 percent worth the splurge. Just look at my hair above—it's good.
